Where Innovation Meets Craft

LUKA × OKLO Groundbreaking Ceremony
Idaho National Laboratory • September 2025

When OKLO—a pioneering nuclear technology company advancing sustainable energy through innovative reactor design—prepared to break ground on their facility at Idaho.

Oklo breaks ground on its first Aurora powerhouse at Idaho National Laboratory under the U.S. Department of Energys (DOEs) newly established Reactor Pilot Program. The event included participation from Oklo co-founder and CEO Jacob DeWitte, Oklo co-founder and COO Caroline DeWitte, INL Director John Wagner, U.S. Environmental Protections Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin, Idaho Governor Bradley Little, Utah Governor Spencer Cox, U.S. Senators Mike Crapo and James Risch, U.S. Congressman Mike Simpson, Idaho Lieutenant Governor Scott Bedke, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Commissioner Bradley Crowell, U.S. DOEs Michael Goff and Robert Boston, and Idaho Falls Mayor Rebecca Casper. National Laboratory, they sought more than standard event catering. They envisioned an experience that would mirror their own commitment to excellence, sustainability, and meticulous craft.

The challenge: deliver luxury specialty coffee service to 250 distinguished guests, including US senators, US congressman and industry leaders, in one of the most remote locations imaginable—a high-security research facility in the Idaho wilderness.

Innovation takes the stage. As Jake and Caroline DeWitte unveil the future of sustainable energy, fresh florals and meticulous attention to every detail frame a ceremony where vision becomes reality.

The Journey
Before Dawn

5:00 AM. Jackson Hole sleeps beneath a darkened sky as our team begins the three-hour drive to Idaho National Laboratory. Rain hammers the windshield. Visibility narrows to mere feet. Mountain roads demand patience—50 miles per hour, no faster. Every piece of equipment secured, every detail confirmed.

The precision required for this journey mirrors the precision we bring to every cup. When you commit to excellence, there are no shortcuts—only the unwavering dedication to arrive, to deliver, to transcend expectation.

Against the Clock

We arrive to discover guests already gathered beneath the ceremony tent. Our scheduled setup window has vanished. What remains: unwavering composure, practiced efficiency, and the quiet confidence that comes from mastering one's craft.
Within minutes, our mobile specialty coffee station takes form—a study in minimalist elegance amid the industrial landscape. Equipment positioned with surgical precision. Regenerative organic beans calibrated to perfection. Every element aligned.

The Experience
Sensory Resonance

Our signature offering—a regenerative organic dark chocolate latte crafted from medium roast South American beans—became the ceremonial anchor. Each cup delivered layered complexity: warm caramel notes yielding to subtle peanut butter richness, finishing with the delicate brightness of roasted peach.
In the remote Idaho wilderness, surrounded by cutting-edge nuclear technology and the promise of sustainable energy, guests discovered an unexpected parallel: the same attention to sourcing, the same commitment to regenerative practices, the same belief that excellence and sustainability need not be mutually exclusive.

Precision Under Pressure
For three hours, we maintained flawless service cadence. Each espresso pulled with precision. Each milk steamed to silk. Each presentation immaculate. Two hundred fifty guests. Zero compromises.
The setting demanded adaptability; our standards remained absolute.

The Response

"We really appreciated you being here. You made everyone happy. You showed up as presentable as we hoped, and we're looking forward to working with you again."
— Jake Dewitte, OKLO Founder

"This is such a gem. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Bringing specialty coffee to the middle of nowhere—there's nothing comparable."
— Sarah Baldoni, Event Director

From the Guests

"This is delicious—and you're faster than Starbucks."
"I can't believe this small setup is actually better than specialty coffee in the city."
"More people should know about you, especially for settings like this."

The Significance

Exceptional coffee service exists not merely to caffeinate, but to elevate. To transform a functional necessity into a memorable experience. To demonstrate that luxury and sustainability, innovation and tradition, efficiency and artistry can coexist harmoniously.

At OKLO's groundbreaking, we didn't simply serve coffee. We created a sensory counterpoint to the ceremony itself—a reminder that progress honors both the future we're building and the craft traditions worth preserving.

From a 5 AM departure through mountain storms to serving senators and innovators in the Idaho wilderness, every element reinforced a singular truth: when commitment to excellence becomes non-negotiable, limitations dissolve. Only possibilities remain.
